Gabriel Recchia
Post Doc

Gabriel graduated with a bachelor's in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University in 2007, and a doctorate in Cognitive Science at Indiana University in 2012, with a minor in computational linguistics. His research concerns computational models of semantic memory, how the statistical structure of the environment interacts with learning mechanisms to produce complex behavior, and extracting spatial, temporal, and perceptual information from large corpora.

He is currently a postdoctoral fellow advised by Dr. Max Louwerse at the University of Memphis and is conducting research with semantic space models that are well-suited for extracting spatial information from non-spatial language use. His research interests also include games, learning, and motivation, which he can occasionally be found writing about on various blogs and websites.
