Lakshmi Dhevi Baskar is from Tamilnadu, India. One of the world's most ancient classical languages "Tamil" is from Tamilnadu. Recently, Lakshmi joined the MAD lab as a post-doc. Her research focuses on languages in Electronic Health Records, a way to improve the quality of chart notes in Medical Informatics. Her work is supervised by Prof. Max Louwerse and Prof. David Lin.

She is interested in developing her knowledge and skills in Natural Language Processing, Data mining, and Statistical analysis. She received her Master's Degree in Computer Science from Otto-von-Guericke University, Germany in 2003 and her doctorate degree from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands in 2009. During her PhD research, Lakshmi worked in inter-disciplinary fields such as Control Systems, Computational Intelligence, and Transport Engineering.

Her current interests include computer science, control systems, computational intelligence, and natural language processing. Further, Lakshmi likes to meet new people and get to know different cultures!
