Shinobu Watanabe
Masters Student Linguistics/IIS

Shinobu Watanabe received BA in Psychology from the University of Memphis (2009). During her practical training year, Dr. Max Louwerse invited her to work as a senior member on an eye tracking study in collaboration with LiveInk and Northern Illinois University investigating the effects of text format on comprehension. In the fall of 2010, she entered the Masters program in Applied Linguistics at the University of Memphis.

Currently she is also working with Dr. Philip McCarthy, a professor in the Applied Linguistics program. Her most recent work evaluates the Gramulator, a text analysis program. She has variety of study interests in the area of language and cognitive science: specifically, language processes, production, comprehension, speech, text, linguistics, and multimodal communication.
