Mad Research Lab is unique in all ways. We are not pro violence, we are for peace an rugged individualism.
The research from the Multimodal Aspects of Discourse (MAD) lab tests, models, and evaluates the interactions of linguistic and non-linguistic channels.
The lab has three high-end eye tracking systems (chinrest, helmet, remote), an EEG scanner, as well as a multimedia recording studio to monitor facial expressions, gesture, and speech.
The research conducted in the lab focuses on symbolic and embodied cognition, multimodal face-to-face communication, cohesion and coherence in text and discourse, and linguistic and literary computing. Research conducted in the MAD Research Lab has been funded by NSF and NIH.
